Ploy's burnout recovery journey

"I wore my 80-hour weeks like a badge of honor. Until my body forced me to stop." — Ploy T., Senior Consultant

The Wake-Up Call

Ploy was the rising star of her consulting firm. Youngest senior consultant in company history. First to arrive, last to leave. Until the day she collapsed in a client meeting.

"The doctor said my body was shutting down from chronic stress. I had to take three months off. It felt like my career was over."

Rebuilding from Zero

During her recovery, Ploy worked with a Pragma coach who specialized in executive well-being. Together, they examined the beliefs driving her workaholic behavior.

"I realized I equated my worth with my productivity. If I wasn't working, I didn't feel valuable."

Learning New Patterns

The coaching program helped Ploy develop boundaries she'd never had: leaving the office at reasonable hours, taking real vacations, and saying no to projects that didn't align with her priorities.

"Setting boundaries felt selfish at first. My coach helped me see that it was actually responsible—to myself and my clients."

Sustainable Success

Two years later, Ploy is back at work—but different. She's been promoted to Principal, leads the firm's well-being initiative, and mentors young consultants on sustainable career practices.

"I'm actually more productive now than when I was working 80 hours. Turns out, rest isn't the opposite of work—it's what makes good work possible."
